The weigh to grated cheese - without the clumps

Weighing and bagging grated cheese is a tricky process because the texture makes the product stick to the weighing machine and clump together.

That's why family-run cheese firm FJ Need upgraded to Yamato’s Dataweigh Omega multihead weigher.

The machine has 14 weigh heads and can operate at greater speeds than the Yamato Sigma weighing machine. The net effect has been to speed up FJ Need’s production, while simultaneously reducing wastage and improving product yield by the new Omega technology.

The machine is so fast that it has not yet been used to its full capacity FJ Need is currently improving its end-of-line packaging machines to keep up.

Paul Need, md for FJ Need, said: “We weigh and pack a diverse range of cheese types and the machines have delivered a consistent service while improving productivity, accuracy and reducing waste levels. It is also easy to operate and clean, helping to maintain a hygienic working environment at all times.”
