Winning the Food Manufacturing Excellence Award for Company of the Year was a reflection of many years of perseverance, dedication and improvement by Premier Foods, according to the boss of its Ashford site.

In this exclusive video, filmed at last nights’ (November 21) glittering awards ceremony, Premier Foods’ Ashford factory general manager Simon Ellmore, said the teamwork and engagement of the 380 members of staff at the Ashford site had helped it turnaround its fortunes, after it was earmarked for closure in 2007.

‘Continuous year-on-year improvement’

The awards judges – led by panel chairman Paul Wilkinson – said: “Premier Foods has shown great skill in carrying out a major restructuring of its operation against a difficult backdrop, which has resulted in continuous year-on-year improvement.”

Watch this video to find out what Ellmore said was the strategy for the site going into 2014.

Ellmore picked up the award in front of hundreds of industry guests from Mark Lynch, partner with category sponsor Oghma Partners and awards host TV Countryfile star Julia Bradbury.
