The Consumer Goods Forum (CGF) has appointed Peter Freedman as its new md, effective January 6, 2014.

Freedman has almost 30 years’ experience in the consumer industry, gained at management and consultancy firm the McKinsey & Company.

Until 2011 he was a director (senior partner), advising both retail and consumer goods clients around the world on strategy, organisation, operational improvement, change management and capability building.

Variety of roles

Since leaving the firm, he has worked in non-executive roles with a variety of consumer-facing organisations, including food redistribution charity FareShare, a retail start-up, a healthcare provider and the United Kingdom's Ombudsman Service.

The CGF co-chairs, Nestlé ceo Paul Bulcke and Royal Ahold ceo Dick Boer said: “We are confident that … [we] have the leader we need to propel The Consumer Goods Forum forward as the acknowledged industry platform of choice where retailers and manufacturers, small and big, food and non-food, work together to improve our industry and make it more successful, more sustainable, and more relevant to society.”
