Waitrose boss becomes GroceryAid patron

Waitrose md Mark Price has been appointed as a life patron of the charity GroceryAid.

In this role Price will help to promote the work of the charity for current and former grocery industry employees.

Price has held his current position at Waitrose since 2007, having originally joined its owner the John Lewis Partnership as a trainee graduate in 1982.

In August, alongside his role, he was also made deputy chairman of the John Lewis Partnership.

New Year’s Honour’s list

Price, who was appointed as a commander of the Royal Victoria Order in the New Year’s Honour’s list, is also chairman of the Prince’s Countryside Fund and deputy chairman of Channel 4.

Price said: “I am delighted to support the worthwhile activities of a charity whose values are very much in keeping with those we hold at Waitrose.”

Gillian Barker, director general of GroceryAid said: “It is with great pleasure that the charity recognises Mark Price in this way for the unstinting personal support he gives to GroceryAid.”
