Small food and drink firms and entrepreneurs can benefit from a new website that offers businesses without retail contracts opportunities to market their products.

The online food marketplace Yumbles allows firms to list their products using a self-service online tool and then manage orders and increase the visibility of their products.

The team at Yumbles will drive traffic to the site and manage customer payments. The platform accepts the virtual currency, Bitcoin.

Simos Kitiris, co-founder of Yumbles, said: “We have launched Yumbles with a clear vision; to enable talented food producers to turn their passion into thriving businesses with significant consumer reach.”

Overcome the biggest hurdle

Kitiris claimed the site would help businesses overcome the biggest hurdle of marketing their products and securing retail contracts.

“We’ve already had a great response during our pilot period and we are now opening the gates to more food producers,” he added. “We’re discovering exciting, talented artisans on a daily basis and we can’t wait to showcase their innovative food to the Great British public.”

The marketplace was created in response to the growing number of food producers in the UK in recent years, a phenomenon that has seen more entrepreneurs than ever trying to realise their dream of running a successful food business, Kitiris added.
