Susca will bring more than 45 years’ experience to the role, having started selling ice cream from a trailer as a child, before establishing his own company.
He is the owner of ice cream products and ingredients supplier and consultancy firm the TAS Group.
Susca said: “The ice cream sector has faced a number of challenges in recent years particularly from rising commodity prices. Fortunately, it is made up of incredibly resilient and resourceful people and they have weathered the economic storm.
‘Much more optimistic’
“The outlook for 2014 is much more optimistic and I am looking forward to using my experience and knowledge to help our members to build and maintain high quality and successful businesses.”
