Collings will be responsible for ensuring product safety, legality and quality at the Middlesex-based business.
He will oversee a team of five quality inspectors, a new product development specialist and a specification technologist.
His entire working life has been spent in the frozen meat industry, latterly in senior technical positions with Tulip Foods and the Tranfield Meat Company.
Bought the company
This is the first senior appointment made since joint bosses Phillip Paul and Albert McGovern bought the company last year from Karro Foods.
The buyout was supported by the Cambridge and Counties Bank, which provided a mortgage and by ABN Ambro which supplemented directors’ financial commitments to cover all other requirements.
The move drew cheers from employees, who had experienced four owners in six years, the firm said.
Meanwhile, Samantha Farrelly has been appointed as new product development manager and Otto Antal has been promoted to specification co-ordinator.
Lorena Amad Valesquesa has also joined the company as quality auditor.
