Choose your energy management partner with care

Food and drink businesses should evaluate a range of energy management firms before selecting one to partner with to ensure the best possible financial returns, says the boss of energy efficiency specialist JRP Solutions.

Jes Rutter, md of JRP Solutions, warned that businesses that failed to follow this approach could end up with a partnership that was not right for them and miss out on potential energy savings.

“I would advise anyone to look in depth at who they are going to use for energy management,” he said. “You really need someone who’s got good practical implementation experience and that's actually going to make a difference.”

Optimum energy reductions

Businesses should seek energy firms that can display sufficient practical knowledge to achieve the optimum energy reductions, he added. Rutter is one of four expert speakers taking part in the Food Manufacture Group's free, one-hour energy webinar at 11am on Thursday September 18.

The webinar will provide delegates with the information they need to comply with the mandatory energy efficiency assessments, required as part of the Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS).

The online seminar will explore the scope for savings, as businesses prepare to comply with new EU legislation requiring mandatory energy audits to be conducted by December 2015.

Richard Clothier

The panel also includes md of Wyke Farms Richard Clothier, head of climate change and energy policy at the Food and Drink Federation Stephen Reeson and energy efficiency deployment officer at the Department of Energy and Climate Change Martin Adams. See full list below.

The webinar will conclude with a question and answer session. Delegates can post questions to the panel during the webinar or email them in advance to michael.stones@wrbm.com.

Meanwhile, Rutter warns many food and drink manufacturers are still struggling to understand the full implications of the ESOS legislation. Watch him explain why in our exclusive video interview.
