The actress is already the brand’s US spokeswoman and has agreed to provide the voiceover for the TV commercial and feature in the outdoor and digital campaign.
Glacéau Smartwater is made and bottled at CCE’s Morpeth factory in Northumberland, making Britain the first European market to introduce the product. The soft drinks giant is targeting young professionals with the brand.
The £1.38bn UK bottled water category has grown by six percent year-on-year, according to figures from market research group Canadean. In October 2013, Zenith International forecast it would increase by a further 8% over the next three years.
Investing in staff
The production in Morpeth reflects CCE’s ongoing commitment to manufacturing in Great Britain. The move is backed by an investment of £3.5M in the site’s production lines and water treatment processes. CCE is also investing in its staff at the facility, funding an employee training programme.
“Updates to the site have included the installation of new blending and mixing equipment, and the introduction of advanced technology to create transparent labels for the new bottles,” said Pete Smith, CCE operations director at Morpeth.
