The youngster’s achievements were recognised in front of hundreds of industry guests at the London Park Lane Hilton in a glittering award ceremony last Thursday evening (November 20).

The new Young Talent award celebrates the achievement of one of the rising stars of food and drink manufacturing. Choosing the winner from a field of six very high calibre entrants proved an incredibly daunting task, according to the judges.
‘Jodie really stood out’
The FMEA awards’ independent judging panel – led by Paul Wilkinson, chair of National Skills Academy and chairman of Thorntons – praised Jodie’s skill, maturity and track record of continuous improvement. The judges concluded: “Jodie really stood out; demonstrating the confidence and ability to deliver positive results when she was given extra responsibilities, which brought real financial benefits to her employer.”
Jodie completed two consecutive apprenticeships on site at Thorntons with management development and continuous improvement experts CQM Training & Consultancy. She initially achieved a level two apprenticeship in operational performance, and subsequently progressed on to an apprenticeship in level three Food manufacturing excellence.
Industry leader of tomorrow
Jodie’s passion to acquire new skills marked her out as a future industry leader of tomorrow, the judges agreed unamimously.

Also shortlisted in this category were: Benjamin Bowman, from OAL Olympus Automation, Matthew Glynn, Windyridge Cheese, Jessica Lowe, from Hovis, Alice Marks, of Willowbrook Foods and Amy Watson, from The Fresh Olive Company.
Ceo of sandwich specialist Greencore, Patrick Coveney won the prestigious food manufacturing Personality of the Year title. Dawn Meats won the overall title Food Manufacturing Company of the Year.
