Half of the salt, but all of the cream cheese

Dairygold Food Ingredients (DFI) is responding to consumer demand for healthier products with the launch of its new reduced salt American-style soft cheese.

The new variant contains half the amount of salt (0.3%) when compared with a standard product, which contains 0.6% salt, according to DFI, which has its head office in County Cork, Ireland.

“The launch is in line with the government’s current efforts to reduce salt levels in foods to benefit public health,” says Breeda Cotter, DFI’s technical sales manager.

Beneficial to health

“This new soft cheese variant will enable manufacturers and foodservice operators to provide lower-salt meal solutions, which are beneficial to consumers’ health and still manage to deliver great taste,” she adds.

DFIs new American-style soft cheese is available in 11kg buckets and is being marketed for use in various products, including desserts, sandwiches, salads and snacks.
