Buko will work in conjunction with the rainforest preservation brand Cuipo to show consumers which part of a rainforest they have helped to preserve by buying the product. It aims to increase consumer awareness of rainforest preservation by doing this.
More than 88Mm² of rainforests have been preserved by Cuipo through donations in recent years.

Aled Morris, founder of Buko, says: “There’s no hiding from the fact that [competitors] Vita Coco are head and shoulders above anyone else in the marketplace, but they have admitted they need a serious competitor to help grow the category.
“Things have moved on since the noughties and we didn't feel that simply being organic and making a donation [to Cuipo] was enough for today’s demanding consumer.”
