Portion packs with easy-open lids for water, yogurt or pastes

A packaging system for filling water beakers has been developed by Multivac, which is designed for the portion packing of drinking water, producing up to 160 beakers a minute with volumes of between 150 and 200 millilitres.

The R 900 issues ready-filled beakers, which speeds up the work of aircraft cabin personnel, for example. It also reduces the amount of empty packaging.

So that passengers can open their drinks easily, the portion beakers have a thermoformed, easy-open corner, which enables the upper web to be gripped easily by them and then readily pulled off.

In addition to the packing of liquids, this new thermoforming packaging machine can also be used for packing products with a paste-like consistency, such as yogurt in portioned pots.

During manufacture, the beakers run through the line in five tracks and two rows. The packaging system's integral water filler ensures that fill level only deviates by a maximum of 1% from the target quantity. In order to minimise downtime due to film changes, the system operates with a jumbo film unwind for the lower web.
