Taylors of Harrogate reduces maintenance downtime

Taylors of Harrogate has significantly reduced the maintenance downtown on its packaging lines after making minor adjustments to operations at its Harrogate manufacturing facility, the company’s shift manager John Hennighan said.

Tea boxes were sticking together after being overwrapped on the tea manufacturer’s packaging line, which meant unnecessary man-hours were being used correct the problem, Hennighan told FoodManufacture.co.uk in this podcast.

“As the boxes were being fed into the overwrap machine and being lifted up, they were overwrapped and pushed forward into the sealing area, but some were being sealed together,” Hennighan said.

A small amount of air trapped between the layers of film caused the boxes to stick together, he explained.
