The roll-dried starch adds texture to products by delivering pulpiness, while maintaining the taste and visual appearance of soups, sauces and condiments, according to the firm.
The company’s business manager Judd Hoffman, said: “As our lifestyles become increasingly fast-paced, more often consumers tend to chose ready-made foods from the refrigerated section.
Not willing to compromise on taste
“That does not mean, though, that they are willing to compromise on taste.”
Europeans were demanding more traditional and home-made taste profiles, especially from their pre-prepared foods, Hoffman added.
The product was easy to formulate and did not require any additional hardware investments, added Laura Goodbrand, Cargill's food starch product manager.
