One beer-loving brewing expert is seeking £12,000 to launch an app that recommends beer depending on the mood users are experiencing.
The ALL BEER Finder app, the brain child of Alex Barlow, would allow users to specify what flavour intensity, bitterness, colour and ABV they were seeking or a desirable food pairing and be directed to the perfect beer on the market.
Barlow said he already had the data available to create the app but was seeking funding to launch the app and an accompanying website.
Beer that matches your taste
“You specify want you want to taste, and we’ll find you the beer that matches it,” he said.
“We want to make all these functions available on the BEER Finder app. An app you can use at home, in a store or a bar with friends to find the perfect beer for the occasion.”

Apps based around food and drink are growing in popularity. Another app, Olio, is helping to reduce food waste by connecting neighbours with each other and local shops so that surplus food can be shared – either for sale, or for free – not thrown away.
Meanwhile, Checkit has launched the UK’s first cloud-based app running a food safety management system.
Food safety app
The Checkit Work Management app allows users manage food safety and implement compliance. Users can also input bespoke checklists, processes or actions and send them to employees using any PC, tablet or phone.
Dr Martin Nash, product line manager at Checkit, said the app could help address “increasingly complex challenges in food safety and business management”.
“Checkit Work Management will revolutionise the way food businesses implement and manage compliance,” he claimed.
“By automating and standardising procedures, the new system guarantees that the correct measures have been taken, whenever a food safety audit occurs. If your food business relies on countless small things to be done correctly and consistently by staff in order to deliver productivity, profitability and compliance – Checkit Work Management is for you.”
