Ingredients supplier Community Foods set to grow organic sales
An Essex-based importer of dried fruits and nuts has ambitious plans to grow its organic offer.
Community Foods, which supplies directly to retailers as well as manufacturers like Hovis and Premier Foods, intends to grow its sales of organic produce currently worth £15M by up to 20% annually.
Viable volumes
Md Martin Rome told FoodManufacture.co.uk that it had been a challenge to get the necessary volumes together to make organic viable but as the economy recovered, he expected an upsurge in sales.
“Apricots, grains and seeds are the growth areas,” he said.
