Meat firm Tulip has announced two key senior management appointments and a rebrand of the company’s Added Value Division.

Jose Peralta will take up the role of Tulip Added Value’s md, which has been renamed Tulip Food Company (UK). Peralta will report directly to ceo Steve Francis and will also join the Tulip board of directors.

Peralta joined Tulip after spending three years as md of 2 Sisters Food Group’s Red Meat division.

Andrew Fisher was appointed operations director of Tulip Food Company (UK) and will report directly to Peralta. He has 25 years of experience in the food sector and served as group operations director for Vion’s Poultry Division.

Pivotal time for the business

Francis said he was excited that Peralta and Fisher had agreed to join the company at a pivotal time for the business and said both brought strong credentials to their respective roles.

The appointments followed a restructure of the company after Francis joined Tulip last month, which saw the firm split into four business divisions.

Restructuring the company was designed to simplify operations and build customer relationships.

The company hoped the Tulip Food Company (UK) rebrand would better reflect the make-up of the division, which consists of customer focus and innovation centres.

Work more effectively

Francis said the company needed to work more effectively as a connected team, both internally and with its farmers and customers.

“I am determined to restore Tulip’s position as the pre-eminent supplier of pork and pork-based food in the UK,” said Francis.

“To achieve that I am convinced we need to return to a position where we re-empower our sites and provide them with all the support required to deliver consistently and with excellence.”

Tulip operates 16 fresh and cooked meat sites across the UK and employs about 7,000 workers. The company’s four divisions are Tulip Food Company (UK), Tulip Fresh, Tulip Agriculture and Dalehead Foods.
