A blaze at a Yorkshire pudding factory in south Wales was attended by four fire engines this morning, after a fire started in an industrial oven.

The fire at Rogerstone, Newport was reported at 5.56am today (October 21) and was attended by crews from Malpas, Duffryn and Maindee fire stations.

Head of joint fire control for South Wales Fire and Rescue Service Jennie Griffiths took to twitter to report the fire.

On arrival, smoke was visible at the factory. Firefighters used breathing apparatus to tackled a small fire using a hose reel jet.

Crews checked the area using thermal imaging cameras and cleared the smoke using a positive pressure ventilation fan.

The fire was extinguished by 7.03am, with crews remaining on site to ventilate the building. Griffiths reported the fire was out on twitter.

A spokeswoman from South Wales Fire and Rescue Service told FoodManufacture.co.uk that everyone on the site was safe and accounted for.
