Quick pulse heat sealing unit cuts film use

Potato processor Albert Bartlett has retrofitted Ceetak’s quick pulse heat (QPH) sealing technology onto the vertical form, fill and seal (VFFS) machines at its Norfolk production facility.

“With the introduction of a range of exciting new products, we were able to improve production efficiencies,” says Albert Bartlett’s chief engineer Nigel Vincent.

“Ceetak’s QPH sealing technology offers the ability to cope with a wide variety of films and reduces the need for timely seal jaw changes.”

Ceetak claims the key benefit of using its QPH technology is in film savings – typically between 7–15% with a 1.5–2mm seal width – as well as the stronger overall bag seals achieved.

However, once QPH systems are installed on production lines, a number of other benefits are also achieved, including reduced maintenance, higher running speeds, improved hygiene and safer machinery operation.
