A line of colouring foods made from fruit, vegetables and edible plants is to be showcased at CFIA, which takes place in Rennes, France, next week (March 7–9).

Exberry concentrates are obtained exclusively from fruit, vegetables and edible plants using only gentle physical methods such as chopping, cooking, pressing and filtering, maker GNT said.

Chemical solvents or other synthetic additives are strictly excluded from the production process, it added.

Artificial colourants no longer necessary

GNT will use CFIA to demonstrate that, thanks to colouring foods, artificial colourants are no longer necessary to produce bright, stable shades in food and drink.

“Consumers expect food companies to take their increasing demand for greater naturalness and clean-labelling into account. At the same time, they want appealing products and are becoming more adventurous when it comes to colour,” said Baptiste Mattelin, md of GNT France.
