The Food and Drink Federation is to launch a new small to medium-sized enterprise (SME) membership scheme at a trade event this week.

The offer followed a significant increase in interest in FDF membership among SMEs since the vote to leave the EU, said the federation.

FDF membership director Nicki Hunt said: “SMEs account for a huge proportion of the businesses in our industry. We feel it’s important that these companies have affordable access to some of the same expertise as their larger counterparts and can be part of a shared industry voice.

“These businesses are the backbone to our sector; their success is key to ensure our industry thrives.”

Costing £500 plus VAT a year, SME membership will provide access to FDF experts through a dedicated helpline, free insurance and legal advice, access to retail buyers and discounts on FDF events including the organisation’s industry dinner, said Hunt.

The membership offer will be launched at the trade event IFE 2017, which takes place between Sunday March 19 and Wednesday March 22 at the ExCel, London.
