The owner of the Golden Wonder and Mr Porky’s brands will recruit a technical manager, engineering supervisors and training officers at the site. The recruitment drive was aimed at increasing production capabilities and bagging capacity.
Tayto Group group operations director Martin McElhinney said: “During the last few years, we have upgraded machinery and added new equipment, increasing our production capabilities and bagging capacity.
‘Growing at an accelerated pace’
“The group is growing at an accelerated pace and we are currently recruiting people for 60 vacancies at the Scunthorpe site. These range from unskilled to skilled positions and include production operatives, a night shift manager and engineering supervisors.”
The recruitment drive was welcomed by Scunthorpe Member of Parliament Nic Dakin. Dakin said the additional positions would benefit the area.
“It's really good news that Golden Wonder are continuing to invest in their business locally,” said Dakin.
‘Strengthen the team further’
“They have a fabulous team working in Scunthorpe and it is great that they are recruiting to strengthen the team further. I look forward to working with them in the future, as I have in the past, for the benefit of our area.”
The search for 60 new workers came after Tayto Group’s sister company Montagu Group acquired vending machine firm Freedom Refreshments last week. The multi-million pound deal would see Tayto’s products feature in 7,000 more vending machines across England.
Meanwhile, Tayto Group bought a 75% stake in popcorn manufacturer Portlebay in February. It also revealed the acquisition of roasted nuts and pork scratchings maker Tavern Snacks at the same time.
