Bakkavor is to recruit more than 150 new employees at its salad production business in Dover, as it continues a nationwide recruitment drive.

The vacancies at Bakkavor-owned Tilmanstone Salads are for a range of skilled and unskilled production roles.

Tilmanstone Salads general manager Dan Hill said: “This is an exciting time for Tilmanstone Salads as we create additional capacity to meet increased customer demand.

“We have a number of different roles on offer and we look forward to welcoming the new colleagues to our team.”

Formerly known as Kent Salads, Tilmanstone produces a range of products for Marks & Spencers including prepared leafy salad bags, convenience salads and prepared vegetable dishes.

Employs more than 870 workers

The site is a major employer in the Dover area and currently employs more than 870 workers.

Bakkavor has launched a nationwide recruitment drive to meet higher customer demands as the company increases its capacity. Last year the producer hired an additional 1,000 staff and employs more than 16,500 people in the UK.

The company is also looking to hire 100 new staff at its factory in Bourne, Lincolnshire, to boost the output from the 1,200 workers already at the factory.

Recruitment at Bakkavor-owned Bourne Prepared Produce would fill a number of roles across the business, including production workers, team leaders as well as other skilled staff.

‘Meet increased customer demand’

Bourne Prepared Produce head of operations Jonathan Zair said: “This is an exciting time for Bourne Prepared Produce as we create additional capacity to meet increased customer demand.

“We have a number of different roles on offer and we look forward to welcoming the new colleagues to our team.”

Meanwhile, snack manufacturer Tayto Group is to create 60 jobs at its Golden Wonder site in Scunthorpe, in order to increase production capabilities and bagging capacity.

The owner of the Golden Wonder and Mr Porky’s brands will recruit a technical manager, engineering supervisors and training officers at the site.
