Seafood supplier to create jobs at new factory

Seafood and game meat supplier Coast & Glen is to create jobs at a new factory in Inverness, Scotland, purchased with assistance from HSBC.

Coast & Glen – which also owns the fresh fish delivery service Fishbox – said the acquisition of the 244m2  processing facility at the Wyndhill industrial estate was part of the company’s strategy to expand its customer base in the retail sector.

Md Magnus Houston added: “The new factory and office will not only allow Fishbox to expand its customer acquisition, but will free up space to let Coast & Glen continue its organic growth.

“We couldn’t have done it without the expertise from Morisons, who have supported and looked after our every legal need for six years now.”

Advised Coast & Glen

Law firm Morisons advised Coast & Glen on the purchase of the new factory.

Lucy Gannon, head of Morisons’ food and drinks team, said: “We’ve been working with Coast & Glen since the business first launched six years ago and we are delighted to assist them with their exciting growth.

“The team has been actively looking for new premises for a long time and finding the right site has proved difficult due to the requirements needed to facilitate a growing food business.”

Founded in 2011 by Houston, Coast & Glen supplies foodservice customers throughout Scotland, as well as to Michelin star restaurants across the UK.

Smoked and frozen

The company supplies fresh fish landed in Scotland – including haddock, cod and monkfish – as well as smoked and frozen varieties.

Meanwhile, last week, premium ready meals manufacturer Charlie Bigham’s is set to open its new flagship factory in Somerset next month, with plans underway to recruit 300 staff.
