Bakers have been called on to submit their sourdoughs to the World Heritage Sourdough Library, run by ingredients manufacturer Puratos in Saint Vith, Belgium. The library currently houses more than 100 sourdoughs from 18 countries, but just two are from the UK.
More bakers to be considered
Approximately 24 sourdoughs are added to the library each year and Puratos would like more UK bakers to be considered as part of the next selection.
“The World Heritage Library houses sourdoughs that deserve to be preserved for the future, and we know so many British sourdoughs merit a place,” said Puratos UK marketing manager Lydia Baines.
