Using basic nutritional data, the calculator, from Essentia Protein Solutions, informed manufacturers about what is required to upgrade their food or drink product to a higher protein classification – according to Regulation (EC) No 1924/2006 – in terms of labelling as a source of protein, high in protein or increased in protein.
Most cost-effective match
According to Essentia, the tool provided immediate answers and enabled users to select the best and most cost-effective match for the product in question.
It can also calculate the additional amounts of clean-label protein needed to meet these classifications.
‘Protein enrichment of everyday food’ was the theme at Essentia’s stand. Its nutritional protein range was available in beef, chicken and pork powders.
Essentia said its powders contained 90–98% protein.
