At Nomad, McIntyre was responsible for the manufacturing process and distribution of finished goods, turning over 300,000t of frozen fish, vegetables and meals a year.
He has extensive experience in managing manufacturing sites in the UK, Europe and Asia, having worked in food and consumer-facing industries for 26 years, according to Young’s Seafood.
Before working for Nomad, he was group operations director at Weetabix Food Company for nine years. He also held senior operational roles at Boots Healthcare International and GlaxoSmithKline.
Modernising
Throughout his career, he played key roles in modernising operations functions, boosting profits and sales and improving global supply chain performances and customer service.
McIntyre plans to join Young’s Seafood on March 12, replacing Steve Lidgett, who is retiring from the company at the end of April.
“I’m pleased to announce Duncan McIntyre is joining Young’s Seafood to support the delivery of the business’ strategic objectives,” said Young’s Seafood chief executive Bill Showalter.
‘Delighted’
McIntyre added: “I’m delighted to be joining the team at Young’s Seafood. Young’s is recognised as the UK’s number one fish and seafood business, with a reputation for quality across multiple categories supplying the retail and foodservice sectors. I’m very much looking forward to playing a role in driving the business forward.”
Other recent appointments for Young’s have included Tim Busby as chief financial officer, replacing Malcolm Lofts, who retired on December 31. That move was announced last summer. Busby was previously a director at Hallmark, responsible for the finance and strategy of the international group.
