Belazu Ingredient Company recovers after factory blaze

The Belazu Ingredient Company said it was fully operational after a fire took place on the industrial estate where it is located in Greenford, west London.

The company said it received limited access to its distribution centre mid-morning on February 14 but resumed full service on February 15. Its industrial units were unaffected by the fire.

The company issued a statement, which read: “We would like to apologise to our customers for any delays to their deliveries and thank them for their understanding and patience.”

Firefighters were still at the scene on the morning of February 14 at the industrial estate on Long Drive in Greenford after three warehouse units were badly damaged by the fire. There were no reports of any injuries.

120 firefighters

At the height of the incident, which took place between 11.28pm (February 12) and 3.17pm (February 13), more than 120 firefighters were tackling the fire, with 20 fire engines, four aerial ladders and two fire rescue units.

Station manager Graham Adams, who was at the scene, said: “Firefighters were on the scene within minutes of receiving an emergency call. This is a massive industrial site and, thanks to the hard work of our crews, a number of businesses remain unaffected by the fire.

Three industrial units affected

“Three industrial units have been badly affected by the fire and crews are currently working to limit the damage to a fourth unit. Conditions are challenging for firefighters today as the wind has really picked up and this is hampering their efforts.”

Fire crews from Northolt, Wembley, Southall, Ealing, Harrow and surrounding fire stations were at the scene.

An investigation has been launched, but the cause of the fire is not known.
