Fish processor Young’s Seafood has launched two new products in its premium Gastro brand of frozen breaded fish.
Each pack in the new range features two fish fillets, which Young’s said contained high levels of Omega 3, wrapped in a flavoured crumb.
The two variants are Gastro Breaded Fish in Lemon & Pepper (300g) and Gastro Sweet Chilli Crumb (300g). The products are available in Asda and Iceland stores nationwide.
‘Benefits of Omega 3’
Yvonne Adam, marketing director of Young’s Seafood, said: “Our Gastro Signature Breaded range not only adds appeal to new frozen shoppers, with the introduction of a new format, it also taps into shoppers’ growing interest in the benefits of Omega 3.”
The introduction of the two new variants follows the Gastro range hitting record sales of £64.5m for the 52 weeks ended 4 February this year, according to Young’s.
The past week has also seen international drinks giant Diageo launch a vegan-friendly variant of its Baileys Irish Cream liqueur.
Gluten- and dairy-free
Baileys Almande replaces the cream found in the liqueur with almond milk, making it both dairy-free and gluten-free.
Laura Pearce, marketing director for Baileys at Diageo, said: “Baileys is one of the UK’s most-loved spirits brands and we wanted to create an indulgent treat that can be enjoyed by those who either cannot or choose not to have dairy in their diets.
“Since Baileys Almande launched in the US, we have been inundated with requests over here, so we’re delighted to be bringing Baileys Almande to the UK!”
The product’s launch comes as the number of vegans in the UK has grown 350% over the past 10 years, according to action group The Vegan Society.
