The appointment comes on the 50th anniversary of his family business, Nurkowski & Sons, which is based in Hilperton near Trowbridge, Wiltshire.
Nurkowski has been an active member of the ICA for many years, including 32 years serving on the board of directors.
“I consider it a privilege to be part of the ice cream industry and proud of the work the ICA has done in continually improving the quality of ice cream in the UK,” said Nurkowski.
‘A vital part in increasing standards’
“I’d like to think that the National Ice Cream Competition has played a vital part in increasing standards and become the flagship event of our annual ice cream expo, which provides a wonderful showcase for the quality of UK ice cream and gelato.
“There are a many new people, including dairy farmers and gelato parlours, coming into the industry and it would be of great benefit for them to join The Ice Cream Alliance and expand their knowledge.”
The ICA represents more than 530 businesses in Great Britain and Ireland involved in the manufacturing, retail and catering of ice cream and related products.
