Tyrrells has adapted the British classic by adding a dash of brandy to the ingredients, billing the flavour as a “retro revival”.
Adam Draper, marketing director at Tyrrells Potato Crisps, said: “We are thrilled to introduce Posh Prawn Cocktail. Prawn cocktail crisps have always been one of the nation’s favourite, but no one has introduced a premium version.
“That’s why we have created our new and delicious Posh Prawn cocktail – a British classic with a twist.”
The crisps will be launched on 30 April and will be exclusive to Waitrose, Ocado and select independent stores across the country.
Tyrells’ crisps are hand-cooked in small batches from locally grown, seasonal varieties of potatoes at Tyrrells Court Farm in Herefordshire.
In December, Amplify Snack Brands, owner of Tyrrells, was acquired by US confectionery giant Hershey, in a deal worth about $1.6bn (£1.2bn).
