Available in 250ml slimline cans, the range includes Edinburgh Gin pre-mixed with premium tonic water (6% ABV) and the best-selling Rhubarb & Ginger Gin Liqueur mixed with ginger ale (5% ABV).
This extension into RTD formats is designed to allow Edinburgh Gin to target the out-of-home market. The business said there was consumer demand for premium RTDs – a category that grew by 10% last year.
The range is initially available at Tesco. The Rhubarb & Ginger Gin Liqueur RTD will be available UK-wide while the G&T is available in all of Tesco’s Scottish stores.
Edinburgh Gin’s UK managing director Neil Boyd said: “Given the size and growth of the RTD market, we were keen to offer our consumers a premium ready-to-serve range that they can enjoy whether at home or for any outdoor occasion. A great deal of time and care has been taken to ensure the serve quality matched consumer expectations and delivered a good drinking experience.
“With the popularity of our Rhubarb & Ginger Gin Liqueur it seemed the ideal flavour to choose for our first gin liqueur RTD alongside our classic G&T. Its flavour profile means it will appeal to both fans of Edinburgh Gin and those new to the brand and the range.”
In January, drinks giant Diageo revealed that gin and beer had fuelled its GB sales in the previous half-year.
