In this year’s Christmas campaign, Merry Biscuits Everyone, the biscuit manufacturer hoped to highlight the “key role” its products play in the lead up to and during seasonal festivities.
Joining this year’s Christmas range is a special edition McVitie’s Jaffa Cake tin, designed to look like one of the snacks that had been half eaten. It will appear alongside a festive redesign of its Jaffa Cake boxes, designed to look like a cracker.
Pladis is also launching a Jacob’s Biscuits for Cheese tin with a limited heritage design for the holidays. It joins a festive selection variant of the product.
Christmas makeover
McVitie’s Milk Chocolate Digestives were the last product that was getting a Christmas makeover, revisiting the post box tin design from previous years.
Pladis products returning for Christmas 2018 included McVitie’s white Chocolate digestive Nibbles bags; McVitie’s Moments, Victoria, Family Circle and Savoury Favourites selection boxes; Carr’s Selection box and Jacob’s Savours selection box.
The manufacturer will also be bringing back its range of Jacob’s caddies – tubs of its snacks with resealable lids – in four variants, Twiglets, Mini Cheddars, Festive Snack Bites and Treeselets.
Seasonal biscuits delivered £6.4m of sales into the convenience retail channel last year, according to data from market research firm IRI.
£6.4 million of sales
Pladis’ Christmas range comes hot off the heels of the launch of a new thin variant of its Jacob’s Cracker Crisps.
Designed to combine the crunch of a cracker with the flavour of a crisp, Jacob’s Cracker Crisp Thins are available in three variants: Mature Cheddar & Roasted Onion, Sea Salt & Cracked Black Pepper, and Thai Sweet Chilli.
Meanwhile, a new contender in breakfast beverages has emerged in the form of Lizi’s Breakfast Drink, a product made by Pioneer Foods (UK) that takes premium granola brand Lizi’s into a new category.
