Pork processor Tulip has signed a new contract with sustainable pallet provider IPP Logipal, to help deliver its produce to retail customers.

Part of Pooling Partners, IPP Logipal makes more than 500 deliveries per week to major retail, foodservice and wholesalers across the UK on behalf of Tulip, equating to up to 14,000 pallets per week and up to 750,000 per year.

Les Gillies, group logistics director at Tulip, said: “We’re proud to offer a wide range of exceptional meat products and household brands, available through our multiple supply channels. This allows us to continually meet the expectations of our customers, as well provide efficient and effective solutions to the challenges they face on a day-to-day basis.

“We chose Pooling Partners to help us achieve these goals due to the simplicity of their proposition, from the ordering process through to the simplification of invoicing.”

Pooling Partners’ business model promotes the recovery and continual reuse of durable pallets and boxes in sustainable pooling systems. It is the only pallet pooler to be able to manufacture its own products, as well as retrieving, repairing and repatriating pallets.

Phil Storer, UK director of Pooling Partners, said: “It has been a bumper summer for food producers for obvious reasons, but this agreement with Tulip will ensure they receive a quality service at all times of year, in any weather.”

In August, Tulip signed a pork supply deal with Aldi to provide product to its 81 stores in Scotland and reaped the benefit of a £1m investment in a new mincing line at its Tipton plant.
