Moo Free poaches Samworth Brothers product developer
Dan Zackey has been appointed as Moo Free’s first new product development (NPD) technician. He has more than 25 years’ experience in developing products for supermarkets, artisan bakeries, high-end restaurants and boutique hotels, and will help the brand develop new flavours and varieties.
Zackey previously spent 12 years at Samworth Brothers, designing and crafting desserts, as well as working as the lead developer for the Waitrose account.
Prior to that, he spent two years with Duchy Organics as its head development chef and worked in various boutique restaurants and artisan bakeries in head chef positions.
“I'm elated to have joined Moo Free at one of the most exciting times in their history,” Zackey said.
‘Bold flavours’
“Initially I'll be working on bringing back their infamous Hazelnut Truffles and also developing a brand new strawberry bar to sit in their snack-sized Mini Moos range. After that, I’ll be coming up with bold, interesting flavours for their newest adult-focused range ‘Marvellously Moreish’. I’ve always been passionate about sweet things - and now I’ve got the run of my own chocolate factory.”
Moo Free chief executive and co-founder Andrea Jessop, said: “We’re very excited to have hired our first NPD technician, which should help us to significantly expand our range. We’re also very happy that we’ve managed to recruit Dan, an expert in his field. Dan has worked with incredible companies, like Waitrose and Duchy Organics, so we’re really excited to see what innovative ideas he’s going to bring to Moo Free and our treasured customers.”
Moo Free makes a range of vegan, gluten-free, soya-free, dairy-free and organic chocolate bars for consumers, as well as chocolate ingredients for food manufacturers.
