The new role, which sits alongside his current responsibilities as chief marketing officer, will be to help accelerate sustainable and profitable growth.
The creation of this new role follows the recent senior appointments of Jonathan Piper as commercial director, brand, and David Hollins as commercial director, private label and foodservice.
Müller manufacturers major brands Müller Corner, Müller Light and Müller Rice, and produces chilled desserts under licence from Mondelēz International. It also supplies the UK private-label yogurt market.
Bergen Merey, chief executive officer at Müller Yogurt & Desserts, said the company was taking “significant organisational steps” to continue strengthening its core brands, develop a leading private-label proposition and to target parts of the category where it has limited or no presence.
“We have already created our best ever Müller Corner and Müller Light recipes, launched our biggest ever marketing campaign, aligned our commercial organisation with the rapidly changing needs of the market we serve and completed a substantial investment in Telford, which enables us to make an additional 500m pots of yogurt per annum,” said Merey.
“Alongside making great-tasting products that are made in Britain with milk from British farms, we will focus on developing and executing a number of strategic initiatives that are not only designed to add taste to life, but will deliver both medium- and long-term profitable and sustainable growth.”
Müller UK & Ireland is wholly owned by Unternehmensgruppe Theo Müller, which employs 24,000 people throughout Europe. In the UK, Müller develops, manufactures and markets a wide range of branded and private-label dairy products made with milk from more than 1,600 British farmers.
