For avid bakers and those that that have had problems with a lack of availability of flour on retail shelves, the company has produced three all-natural premium flours available to order online.
Speaking to Food Manufacture in June, Fatherson Bakery managing director and owner Laurence Smith indicated then that the coronavirus lockdown had motivated shoppers to do more home baking. He said the company had rejigged its new product development priorities to accord with the changes the pandemic had wrought on the food supply chain.
The firm has launched 1.5kg bags of Premium Plain Flour and Premium Self-raising Flour, both at a recommended retail price (RRP) of £2.75, and Premium Strong Bread Flour at an RRP of £2.95.
Resealable packaging
The flours are milled and packed in the UK and are packed in resealable packaging with an inside foil wall to help keep the flour fresh. All products come with a 12-month shelf life.
“People are falling back in love with baking, and while we are spending more time around the home it’s the ideal time to try new recipes or even experiment," said Smith. "And as bakers, we know nothing tastes better than homemade goodies.
“The flour range is a best-in-quality, signature flour, milled from British crops that we use in our own baking daily."
Each product features a recipe suggestion and contains no preservatives.
Fatherson Bakery was founded in 2007. It supplies products including sponge cakes, cupcakes, desserts, snack bars and seasonal items to retailers such as The Co-op and Morrisons, plus symbol groups such as Budgens, Nisa and Spar.
