Eaton: 'Great to be involved'

The Food Manufacture Excellence Awards judging will be chaired by Geoff Eaton again for the third year in a row.

Online entry for the industry Oscars opened on 5 July and close on 6 September. They are now simpler to enter than ever, companies can enter as many categories as they want and there are two new categories this year: the Sustainability Award and the Future Talent of The Year Award. Eaton was boss of chilled prepared foods firm Uniq for six years until it was bought by Greencore in November 2011 and also formerly held the post of chief operating officer at Premier Foods.

He is currently chairman of New England Seafood International, a fast-growing quality producer of speciality fresh fish, sourced sustainably from around the world, and executive chairman of Butcher’s Pet Care.

Other former roles include chief executive officer of Isis Research, a pharmaceutical market research agency.

Eaton built his early career at Tomkins, the guns to buns group, and worked in corporate finance at Hill Samuel and gained an Association of Chartered Accountants qualification at Arthur Andersen.

"I am happy to chair the judging panel again," Eaton said. "It's great to be involved in such a good industry event."
