Bizerba UK has unveiled plans for a new 'first of its kind' head office and label manufacturing facility in Milton Keynes.

According to the company, the site would enable it to further expand and support new areas of business. It would start operating in January, with the official opening for the entire site scheduled for March.

Bizerba UK said the facility 'will be the first of its kind in the UK' to be equipped with a class-leading full 10 colour EFA 530 printing press, with full LED drying capability. LED technology significantly reduces the temperature used to dry labels, requiring less energy than more traditional forms of ink drying, such as hot air.

These presses were outfitted to print wrap-around, pressure-sensitive or linerless labels, the firm explained. They were also capable of creating photorealistic images with rich detail, smooth gradients, and accurate colour representation, it added.

Eco-friendly

The company said its linerless label printing supported its green credentials, as they were manufactured via a comparatively eco-friendly, sustainable process.

The system maximises the amount of information that can be printed on labels, with reels that weigh less due to lack of backing paper or liner. The business added that this meant a reduction in waste, requiring less storage space and fewer printing press changeovers, culminating in maximum efficiency.

Andreas Kraut, chief executive officer of Bizerba SE & Co. KG., Bizerba UK's parent company, which is headquartered in Balingen, Germany,  said: “It is with delight we announce the launch of the brand-new label manufacturing plant in the UK.”

Weighing and labelling solutions

In the year to 31 December 2020, Bizerba UK, which was established in 1983 grew sales to £19.4m from £14.1m in the previous financial year. It reduced pre-tax losses from £161,431 to £56,995.

The business provides specialist industrial weighing and labelling solutions for UK customers across multiple industries, including logistics, retail, and food.
