Tim Brett has been appointed managing director for Pladis' Western Europe and Emerging Markets

Biscuit giant Pladis has appointed Tim Brett as its new managing director for western Europe and Emerging Markets.

Brett joins the business from the Coca-Cola Company, where he spent nearly four years as president of the drinks manufacturer’s president of its Western Europe business Unit.

He boasts more than three decades of experience in the fast-moving consumer goods sector across international markets and has lived and worked in the UK, Romania, Hungary, Poland and Japan.

Food industry history

Prior to his time with Coca-Cola, Brett worked for the Guinness Group/United Distillers and Walkers Snack Foods (PepsiCo).

Commenting on Brett’s appointment, Pladis chief executive Salman Amin said: We’re delighted to have Tim join the Pladis team. I have been so impressed by his passion, as well as his track record of taking bold decisions to ensure consistent success and growth.

“Western Europe and Emerging Markets is an important region for Pladis, and his expertise across sales, marketing and innovation will be invaluable as we look to grow our talent and leadership around the world.”

Consolidated markets

The announcement followed the biscuit maker's decision to combine both the Western Europe and Emerging markets into one region. As part of this realignment, Suryakant Pandey – managing director for the India region – will assume responsibility for Pladis’ new Middle East, North Africa and India region.

Brett added: “I am excited to join Pladis at such a pivotal time. The company’s iconic brands have a wealth of potential in this market and I look forward to working with the team to introduce new and beloved brands to consumers across the region.”

In other appointment news, premium bakery and confectionery ingredients supplier R&W Scott has announced a raft of appointments among its senior leadership team.

Meanwhile, last month, drinks company Diageo announced that Nuno Teles, former President of the Diageo Beer Company in North America, is to take over as managing director of Great Britain on 1 July 2022.
