Andrew Brodie, People, Communications and Sustainability Director at Avara foods

Andrew Brodie is People and Communications Director at Avara Foods, one of the leading UK suppliers of poultry to the major retailers and food service chains, employing over 7000 people across the UK in an end to end operation from farm to the supermarket shelf.

Andrew has held this position since Avara came together as a join venture between Faccenda and Cargill in 2018 having previously held the position at Faccenda following spells with, Cargill Unilever and Danone. As well as his HR qualifications Andrew has a first degree in history and a MSC in strategy from Cranfield.

Jon Poole, Chief Executive of the Institute of Food Science & Technology 

Jon Poole is Chief Executive of the Institute of Food Science & Technology. Whilst not a food scientist himself, Jon’s role involves him in most aspects of the food sector from food safety through to sustainability and new product development through to ensuring the pipeline of talent for the next generation of food scientists and technologists.

Jon also chairs SALSA, the third-party supplier assurance scheme for small and micro businesses in the UK. Alongside his role at IFST, Jon works part-time as an independent consultant focussing on organisational development with a particular focus on leadership competency and career development. Jon has written and had published three books on leadership, business coaching and career development.

Lorenzo Veronesi, Associate Research Director at IDC Manufacturing Insights

In this role, Veronesi leads the Worldwide Smart Manufacturing research program and supports all the IDC MI research services for EMEA, by looking at Digital Transformation drivers in multiple manufacturing industry sub-verticals. He is also often involved in consulting projects across the world for end-users, IT vendors and public authorities.

During the last decade his research has focused across key processes such as manufacturing operations management, supply chain management, and product lifecycle management in multiple manufacturing verticals, including - among others - automotive, aerospace, machinery, high-tech, chemicals, CPG, and fashion.

Vicki Hird, Head of Sustainable Farming Campaign at Sustain: The alliance for better food and farming

Vicki Hird is an award winning expert, author, strategist and senior manager who has been working on environment, food and farming issues for over 30 years. As part- time Head of Sustainable Farming at Sustain, Vicki manages the farm team, policy, research and related campaigning and provides comment and guidance on these issues.

Vicki’s new book: Rebugging the Planet, is a homage to insects and other invertebrates, why they are so essential to our ecosystem and what we can do to help them.
