Drinks giant Britvic has appointed Cindy Tervoort has its new chief marketing officer (CMO), following the departure of current CMO Matt Barwell.
Tervoort joins the business from Heineken, where she is currently managing director for direct-to-consumer business BeerWulf.com. Prior to this, she spent five years as board member in charge of marketing and the company’s digital transformation.
An experienced international marketeer, Tervoort boasts deep knowledge of the fast-moving consumer goods industry gained from senior roles with the likes of PepsiCo and Unilever. Tervoort will take over as CMO from 1 July 2023.
Matt Barwell leaves Britvic after nine years with the manufacturer, having overseen work on iconic brands such as Robinsons, J2O and Tango and played a central role in growing the international footprint of the business.
Pivotal role
Barwell has also played a pivotal role in the creation of the company’s Healthier People, Healthier Planet sustainability strategy.

The past week has also seen Mars Food UK and Mars Wrigley UK announce leadership changes.
Effective 1 May 2023, Matt Boulter will be appointed to sales director of Mars Wrigley UK, as current sales director Nick Reade joins Mars Food UK as general manager.
Reade joined Mars Wrigley UK in 2015 as channel director before being appointed sales director in 2019. In his new role as Mars Food UK general manager, Reade will report directly to Dave Dusangh, general manager, Mars Food Europe.

Commenting on Reade’s appointment, Dusangh said: “Nick is a purposeful leader with a great track record of driving quality category growth through mutual partnerships and I look forward to seeing him bring his cross-functional experience to Mars Food UK as we continue on our journey to drive category value through our consumer favourite brands whilst making a positive impact on the world.”
Boulter’s move to sales director followed a career at Mars that has spanned 17 years in both the UK and internationally. His roles have spanned all corners of the business, with him most recently serving as operations planning director.
