New chief procurement officer at Compleat Food Group
The Compleat Food Group has announced the appointment of Brian Byrne as its first chief procurement officer.
Most recently procurement manager for Fox's Burton's Companies, Byrne has more than a decade’s experience across a number of procurement roles with the likes of Hilton Food Group, Iceland and Tesco.
Working under chief executive Nick Field, Byrne will be responsible for driving The Compleat Food Group’s Procurement and ESG strategy.
Commenting on his appointment, Byrne said: “With fresh food being my passion and a consistent part of my career to date, I’m delighted to be joining one of the UK’s leading food companies.
“As well as being market leaders, Compleat is backed by a talented team that I’m excited to work with, and I look forward to seeing the company continue to go from strength to strength.”
Formed in October 2021, The Compleat Food Group was created from the merger of Addo Food Group and Winterbotham Darby, with the group acquiring Wrights Food Group in December 2021. It is now a £0.7bn turnover food group, and is home to brands including Pork Farms, Wall’s Pastry, Squeaky Bean, Unearthed and Vadasz.

Sweetdreams’ new head of sales launches new chocolate brand
Chocolate manufacturer Sweetdreams has appointed fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) manager James Jeffery as its new head of sales to bring its new brand, Gozo, to market.
Jeffery brings more than 15 years’ experience across brands such as Mondelez, Quorn and The Lakes Distillery to this new role leading the Gozo campaign.
He will focus on promoting the company’s new range to target UK retailers as well as drive the continued growth of Choc Nibbles.
Matthew Stephenson, managing director at Sweetdreams, said: “James is already a real asset to our business. His insight and experience is invaluable as we bring our exciting new range GOZO to market this year and strengthen our Choc Nibbles offer.”
Logistics UK appoints head of finance
Trade body for the supply chain and logistics industry Logistics UK has appointed Carmel Mulvey as the group’s new finance director.
Mulvey boasts more than 25 years’ experience in senior finance roles across a broad range of sectors.
Logistics UK’s chief executive David Wells commented: “We are delighted to welcome Carmel Mulvey to Logistics UK. Having most recently worked as the Finance Director at a privately owned global manufacturing business in Kent, we are confident that Ms Mulvey’s experience – not only as a Financial Director, but also gained from her work in industry – will continue to strengthen our existing, knowledgeable finance team.”
Speaking on her appointment, Mulvey added: “I am excited to be joining Logistics UK. As a well-respected business organisation with over 20,000 members, I look forward to leading the finance teams as we continue to achieve greater efficiencies to accomplish even more for our members.”
