The new facility will add an extra 2415.479m2 of working laboratory space along with new technical capabilities to complement RSSL’s existing facilities.
RSSL will support this growth with a major investment into expanding its workforce from 350 to 500 over the next three years by doubling the number of scientists in its team. RSSL said the expansion would help support and increasing demand for specialist knowledge within key areas of the food and consumer goods sectors.
‘Commitment to science’
Commenting on the opening, managing director Jacinta George said: “Our clients are at the forefront of innovation within their industries, working on projects ranging from sustainable food solutions to next-generation therapeutics.
“With this exciting new expansion, we will be able to continue supporting them to develop high-quality, safe products that meet complex regulatory requirements and consumer needs. The addition of this new facility reinforces our commitment to science, innovation and collaboration and will enable us to meet evolving industry needs and drive vital progress across a diverse range of sectors.”
RSSL attributed its recent expansion to significant organic growth and successful strategic partnerships, which have enabled it to double its revenue since 2016. It claimed the new facility would accelerate turnaround times and deliver efficiencies for RSSL’s clients around the world.
‘Spirit of collaboration’
Professor Parveen Yaqoob OBE, deputy vice-chancellor of the University of Reading and pro-vice-chancellor for research and innovation, added: “For cutting-edge science to thrive, we need skilled people, world-class facilities, and a spirit of collaboration and discovery.
“These shared values are helping both the University of Reading and RSSL to grow from our shared Whiteknights campus, and we look forward to continuing our successful partnership into the future.”
