Trade union Unite says it has secured Mondelez UK's first recognition agreement for extended team leaders, with more than 50 managers working at the Sheffield, UK site, benefitting.

The agreement will mean that these workers at the Sheffield site, which produces Liquorice Allsorts, Jelly Beans and Trebor Mints, will now have collective trade union bargaining rights when it comes to pay and employment conditions.

The move follows Unite securing recognition for the Sheffield site’s engineers previously and has been described as a 'significant step' by the trade union.

“This is a significant step, with Mondelez’s extended leadership team in Sheffield now having Unite firmly in their corner to deal with workplace issues and to negotiate on pay,” said Unite general secretary’s Sharon Graham. “This recognition deal demonstrates how Unite’s commitment to defending the jobs, pay and conditions of its members is constantly being extended to cover a growing number of workers.”

This win also marks a first for the UK business arm, according to Unite's regional officer Chris Rawlinson: "The extended leadership team at Mondelez Sheffield are the first and only management group at Mondelez UK to have won union recognition."

Having signed the recognition agreement, Unite workplace reps at Mondelez Sheffield are now preparing to enter into pay negotiations.
