Glass contamination fears lead to Crosta & Mollica pasta sauce recall

The Italian food manufacturer has recalled jars of its ‘Crosta & Mollica Sugo Alla Norma Aubergine, Ricotta and Tomato’ because the possible presence of glass makes them potentially unsafe to eat.

The recalled pasta sauces are packaged in 340g jars, feature a batch code of Y008B and have a best before date of 8 January 2027. Crosta & Mollica said that the recalled range has only been sold in Waitrose stores.

In a recall notice issued to its customers, the food producer has explained the cause for the recall and advised consumers to return the product to the store where they bought it, or another Waitrose store, for a full refund.

“We apologise that it has been necessary to recall this product and for the inconvenience caused,”​ the recall notice reads.

In other news, recent recalls have also been announced by Kellogg’s and Lituanica UK. Boxes of ‘Kellogg’s Corn Flakes Chocolate Flavour’ were recalled because they may contain small hard lumps​​, which present a choking hazard, while Lituanica UK has recalled a meat product after Listeria monocytogenes was discovered.
