True Colours is a 0.5% ABV IPA brewed in collaboration with hop merchants Charles Faram, with 10p from ever can sold set to be donated to leading LGBT+ anti-abuse charity Galop UK.
The beer was officially launched on 3 June 2024 on the brewer’s website and will be available from sources such as Eebria Trade, Blas ar Fwyd, The Alcohol-Free Co and Wise Bartender while stocks last.
Drop Bear Beer Co’s LGBT+ founders and married couple, Joelle and Sarah Drummond, were the subject of a hate crime in 2022, an event that served as a reminder of the importance of visibility and representation, leading to an ongoing charity partnership with Galop UK.
“True Colours is more than just a beer, it's a reminder that we should all help create a world in which everyone is safe to show their true colours,” said Joelle Drummond.
“We have a diverse team at Drop Bear and whilst we celebrate pride 365 days a year, we’re so excited to do something special for Pride 2024. As one of very few LGBT+ breweries in the UK, we feel a responsibility to promote the inclusivity and diversity that can exist within the brewing world.”
Meanwhile, Galop interim CEO Amy Roch added: “We’re so grateful that Drop Bear Beer’s Pride beer will feature Galop’s National Hate Crime Helpline number.
“Through our frontline services, Galop supports thousands of LGBT+ abuse and violence survivors every year. At a time when LGBT+ people are facing higher levels of abuse and violence, Drop Bear Beer are helping us to provide a lifeline for those in need.”
Drop Bear Beer Co’s broader range of non-alcoholic beers are listed in outlets such as Ocado, Planet Organic and select Co-op and Tesco stores. During an extensive interview at BlasCymru / TasteWales, Food Manufacture spoke to Drop Bear Beer Co head of sales Simon Davies about the brand's growth and plans to move into export markets around the world.
Meanwhile, the brewer recently relaunched Welsh beer brand Tomos Watkin after taking ownership in August 2023.
