Bidcorp UK acquires independent ice cream manufacturer
As the parent company of food and drink wholesalers Bidfood UK, Bidfresh and Caterfood Buying Group, Bidcorp UK will add the Northern Bloc brand to its network of manufacturing businesses, which includes Simply Food Solutions and Yarde Farm.
Northern Bloc currently supplies retail and foodservice customers including Booths, the National Trust and Wagamama.
Founded in 2014, the Leeds-based business offers a wide range of ice cream products vegan and bespoke options in various flavour profiles. The firm also offers a low-sugar ice cream range for children and an ice cream for dogs supporting the Dogs Trust.

Commenting on the deal, supply chain and technical services director at Bidfood UK, Jim Gouldie, said: “We’re delighted to welcome the Northern Bloc team to our Bidcorp UK family.
“Their passion, ethical ethos and reputation for providing great-tasting products at an excellent service completely resonates with our core mission and values. We look forward to supporting the team and expanding their brand presence through multiple routes to market.”
Meanwhile, Northern Bloc managing director Dirk Mischendahl added: “We are very excited about joining the Bidcorp UK group and having the opportunity to continue the journey we started in 2014, creating great flavours and making ice cream centre of plate.”
Bidcorp UK is part of global wholesale business Bidcorp, which operates in Europe, North America, South America the Middle East, Asia, Africa, and Oceania.
