AB Mauri UK&I completes acquisition of Leigh blending business
The deal, which has been fully completed, sees AB Mauri take control of 100% of the shares in Romix, although no financial details of the agreement have been made public.
Mick McGowan, the managing director of Romix, will continue to lead the company along with sales leader Paul Weston and the rest of its existing management team.
Based in Leigh, Romix specialises in producing recipes for the bakery and confectionery markets and is known for its effective management of allergen ingredients throughout its manufacturing processes.
Commenting on the deal, UK&I managing director at AB Mauri David Cooper said that the “strategic acquisition” would enable the firm to expand its footprint in the growing segment that Romix Foods serves, while also providing additional flexibility to its wider UK manufacturing footprint.
“This ensures that we can continue to meet the demands of increasing variety and complexity from the markets we serve,” Cooper added.

McGowan expressed his delight about this new chapter for Romix and said that firm was excited to become a part of the AB Mauri family.
"This acquisition represents a significant milestone for Romix and promises to bring numerous benefits to our staff and customers alike," McGowan explained.
He added that the acquisition represented an opportunity for Romix to enhance its technical capabilities and strengthen its value proposition for customers.

Operating as a division of Associated British Foods, AB Mauri formulates technical ingredient solutions to meet quality standards, performance criteria and cost parameters.
AB Mauri UK&I is a business entity formed from the merger of Cereform, Mauri Products and Gb Plange UK.
